SNK Releases a Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves Demo Breakdown

By Kevin KellyApril 24, 2024

Ahead of the Evo Japan 2024 festivities, SNK released new information on their site about the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves demo. Rock Howard, Terry Bogard, Hotaru Fubuta, Tizo…err Griffon Mask, and Preecha, will be available for the demo. The first 4 characters are already established within the SNK ranks, while Preecha is the brand-new face of the Garou series.

The new mechanics are detailed with a bit of what we already know about the Rev system – which is similar to the Street Fighter VI drive system in some ways. The Rev moniker does have a bit of ride feel to it. SNK’s site also expands on the hyper-defense and just defends differences. The Just Defend being the reverse-parry that was introduced in Garou: Mark of the Wolves and added to other SNK titles as well as Capcom vs SNK 2: Millionare Fight 2001 on the K Groove end. The command lists are broken down into both Arcade Style and Smart Style – a simplified style with one-button motion commands going down the same vein as recent fighting games.

So far, this move list only exposes some specials and supers so far without any in-depth coverage normals as of yet. Some of these moves, in these kits, should already be familiar to Fatal Fury and KoF veterans. Mark of The Wolves characters have found life in other SNK games since their 1999 introduction. Tizoc has been an on-and-off character in the KoF series after his Mark of the Wolves debut while Rock has been a DLC character in recent King of Fighters games 14 and 15. The Mark of the Wolves hero has also been in Neo Geo Battle Collsuem and CVS2. Hotaru has also made appearances in other SNK titles as a playable character.

Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves has an early 2025 release window so far.
