Demonschool Bosses, Characters, Gameplay Tactics Unveiled

Two new trailers for Demonschool, the school-life tactics RPG with hints of Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Italian horror cinema from developer Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd Games (WORLD OF HORROR, VA-11 HALL-A), debuted at Guerrilla Collective and IGN Summer of Gaming. The new videos showcase a never-before-seen boss, companion characters, battle techniques, and more.

As the final heir to the last-standing demon hunters family, college freshman Faye finds more than she bargained for from her school experience. While most students are bogged down with assigned reading, she finds herself whisked away on supernatural investigations. Could these hellspawned creatures be the ones from her family’s lore?

As seen in the Guerrilla Collective Showcase, a sentient stack of CRT TVs interrupts her study sessions, electrifying the battlefield with a retro flair. This villian forecasts static discharge strikes and a 100% chance of television precipitation! The next demon on the docket, first shown during IGN Summer of Gaming, unleashes a bouquet of barbed tongues on a circular battlefield. Shake up a new strategy to defeat this ghoul before it swallows the world!

Survive a whole semester by strategizing study sessions, building up classmates skill sets, and setting schedules to fit combat training, side quests, and school activities. Blossom friendships and relationships with 15 characters to choose from. Revealed in this week’s showcases are two more champions: Ti, a professional powerlifter whose special attack knocks back enemies in all directions, and Kestrel, a fitting rival for Faye who passes through enemies and strikes their pressure points.

Enter a purgatory where 2D and 3D art collide in battles with armies of macabre beings. With grotesque visuals summoned from Japanese manga and Italian horror cinema of the 60s and 70s, paired with structure and color pigment of JRPG favorites like Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, a semester at university couldn’t get creepier.

“The message of working together to triumph against all odds shines through in Demonschool’s relationships.” said Brandon Sheffield, creative director of Necrosoft Games. “Of course, we couldn’t make it easy, now could we? Demonic televisions and terrible-tongued beasts are just perfect to mix it up and strengthen Faye’s friendships.”

Demonschool opens enrollment on PlayStation 5|4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Steam Deck later in 2023.

Take notes from Ysbryd Games on the official website, research the studio on Twitter and Facebook, and join the official club on Discord. Catch Necrosoft Games after school on the official website, Twitter, and Discord.
