Lies of P: Everything we know so far

Fans of Souslike games have been looking forward to Lies of P, which is an upcoming Soulslike/adventure title that will be loosely based on the novel, Pinocchio. There’s a lot of information to take in, and we’ve tried to put together the best “Everything we know about the game” for you.

As always, we will update this piece as we find out new information regarding the game.

What is Lies of P?

The only way to describe Lies of P is if Pinocchio was a dark fairy tale and had a child with Bloodborne , because that’s exactly what we’re getting here. Based on the story of Pinocchio but with a Soulslike gameplay twist, which promises to be one of the more unique games of 2023. In Lies of P, Pinocchio must locate his creator, Geppetto, and overcome the calamity that has befallen the city of Krat, which includes bloodthirsty automatons running amuck.

However, unlike the fantasy novel, Pinocchio is not a small puppet and instead is what is described as a puppet mechanoid that has an appearance of a young man,

So, Lies of P is a Soulslike?

Yep, it is. While we haven’t had any hands-on with the game, from what we’ve seen, it does remind us of Fromsoftware’s Bloodborne. According to the developer, the game will feature a gripping story and deep combat system, with 30 basic weapon types with over 100 possible combinations. Pinocchio will be able to upgrade his prosthetic left arm, which will function similarly to that found in Sekiro.

The game will also feature what is known as a “Lying System” that will liven things up for the players.

How is the game’s combat?

Sadly, there hasn’t been much to talk about on that front. Outside of knowing that the game is a Soulslike, that’s it. Usually, in those games, players will do their best to avoid getting hurt by their enemies by dodging, blocking, and striking when possible. Thankfully, Lies of P will be shown during the upcoming Summer Game Fest, and we’ll find out more about it soon.

However, we know a bit more about the “Lying System,” which will be an important game aspect.

Tell me more about this “Lying System.”

As we understand, the game will have points throughout the game, and the player will need to decide.

You’ll gain Humanity points for lying throughout your quests in the game. Depending on how many Humanity points you’ve racked up, you’ll witness three different endings to Pinocchio’s story. Lying will also affect your interaction with NPCs, the kind of enemies you encounter, and more. It’ll play a significant role in your gameplay experience.

When will Lies of P be released?

Lies of P will be released on September 19, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As of August 8th, 2023, the developer, Round8 Studios, revealed that the game has gone gold.

It is our genuine pleasure to announce that #LiesofP has Gone Gold. Truly, we cannot wait for your arrival in Krat on September 19.

What do we know about the developer of the game?

While Neowiz is publishing the game, the developer of the game is Round8 Studio, which is a subsidiary of Neowiz. Lies of P is the second game from this studio, with the first being Bless Unleashed, an MMO that was published for the PS4 and Xbox One that received mixed reviews. Going from an MMO to a Soulslike game is definitely a big change, so we’ll have to wait to see if the studio was able to pull it off.

What platforms will the game be released on?

Lies of P will be released on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be released on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
