Sonic Frontiers Street Date Broken Ahead of Next Week’s Release Date

By Keith MitchellNovember 4, 2022
Sonic Frontiers

Sadly, Sega’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog title, Sonic Frontiers, is already being spoiled and streamed, thanks to several retailers breaking the street date. Also, according to VGC, there’s a pirated version of Switch version that’s already being circulated on the internet. This is definitely not the way Sega wanted the debut of Sonic Frontiers to go.

While it seems that Sega was on top of things, and had worked with Twitch and YouTube to get those streams shut down. The damage was already done, as plenty of eyes could see the game in action, and already form opinions about the game. That also won’t stop those who have access to the game from streaming or releasing videos under a different account.

Sadly, it would seem that more and more games are either having the street date broken, leaked, or in one specific instance, a PS5 that was supposed to have the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II bundle included ended up being the God of War Ragnarok PS5 bundle instead.

Sonic Frontiers is the upcoming game from Sega that features Sonic and his friends, now stuck on an ancient island teeming with unusual creatures. Battle hordes of powerful enemies as you explore a breathtaking world of action, adventure, and mystery. Accelerate to new heights and experience the thrill of high-velocity, open-zone platforming freedom as you race across the five massive Starfall Islands.

But more than anything, fans of Sonic are hoping that this is the game that breaks the Sonic cycle and is the game that it has been hyped up to be. Judging from what we experienced from our Sonic Frontiers hands-on at EGX 2022, it’s looking like this Sonic title will be worth checking out.

Sonic Frontiers releases on November 8th, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch. Well, that is, unless you already have a copy of the game.
