Illfonic is Aware of the Arcadegeddon Cheating Issue and is Addressing It

By Keith MitchellJuly 20, 2022
Arcadegeddon Cheaters

If you’ve played Illfonic’s Arcadegeddon, you may have noticed that the leaderboard has some outrageous scores on it. I know I have. I’ve wondered if those scores were legit, and apparently, they aren’t. Those ridiculous scores were only possible via cheats used against the PC version of the game.

During Arcadegeddon developer Livestream #51, Illfonic’s community manager, Aron C., mentioned that it was time to ban some people. According to Aron, anytime someone cheats in the game, the score is removed, and that person is banned from being able to post a score on the leaderboard.

Unfortunately, the person responsible for clearing the leaderboard wasn’t available at the moment.

Lastly, it was mentioned that Illfonic is looking into a way to stop the cheaters. One way is to use an anti-cheat, which is something that Arcadegeddon doesn’t have now. Whatever is done, I’m looking forward to those cheats being nipped in the bud.

However, as we’ve seen, the PC cheating space is vast. Whenever one cheat is removed, several others rise up to replace it. It’s just the sad reality of PC gaming, despite how much I love the platform. We’ve seen much bigger companies, including Bungie and Ubisoft, combat this recently. To me, the only real resolution was to take the cheat makers to court and hit them where it hurts – their back accounts.

Just looking around, I’ve seen no less than 10 different makers of cheats for Arcadegeddon. Illfonic definitely has their work cut out for them on stopping this madness.

I enjoy playing the game, but when I bust my ass to post a decent score, and someone posts these impossible scores. Well, it sucks the fun out of the game. Here’s to hoping Illfonic is able to address this issue. Then maybe add some new weapons and bosses after they’re finished.

Arcadegeddon is currently available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store).
