Furi Receives A New Playable Character And DLC On May 17

By Keith MitchellMay 4, 2022
Furi - Onnamusha DLC

Furi, the boss battling title from The Gamebakers is receiving new DLC, six years after the game’s release.  This DLC will add a new character called Onnamusha Rider, who’ll include two different stances and has a unique power that can be unleashed.

Onnamusha Rider can be used in all of the current game modes in Furi; Story, Practice, and Speedrun. The Onnamusha DLC will be available on May 17, 2022, for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, priced at $6.99. This update will skip the Xbox platforms.

Alongside the Onnamusha DLC, Gamebakers is also releasing a free update for all platforms. Included are all paid and free content available for Furi: One More Fight DLC and all the improvements made since the release; Invincible Mode, Furier Speedrun, Alternate controls. This update will also be released on May 17th, 2022, for PS4, PS5, PC, and Switch. As with the Onnamusha DLC, this will also skip Xbox.

Those who already own the PS4 version of Furi, they’ll receive a native PS5 version of Furi. The PS5 version supports 4K, a higher frame rate, improved loading times, and transferrable game saves from the PS4 version.

As for the Xbox, unfortunately, both the DLC and update will skip the platform. According to The Game Bakers, the Xbox One version “never captured a lot of attention on Xbox”. And that they “are a small indie team and couldn’t find the time and budget.” I know this is frustrating for Xbox owners, but more so since they’ll own an outdated version of Furi.

Furi never captured a lot of attention on Xbox and unfortunately we had to prioritize platforms. We hope to be developing for Xbox again in the future. Thank you for supporting our games.
