The Monster Hunter franchise as a whole was one that teetered on the brink of being a “mainly successful in Japan” franchise like many before it. However, with the arrival of the game Monster Hunter World, the West saw the potential for the franchise And then later on, Monster Hunter Rise was announced for the Nintendo Switch (and was later ported to the PC) and many wondered if it could live up to the hype.
Well, it did, not just in terms of critical praise (check our review here!), but in that of sales. Because Capcom has confirmed that between the Switch and PC versions of the game, Monster Hunter Rise has shipped over 8 million units worldwide.
This is very impressive, and given its popularity, and the DLC that is still coming for the game, it’s very possible that these sales numbers will continue to rise.
