At the XBOX showing during gamescom 2026, Atlus gave a peek into what is in store for Persona 4 Revival with a brand-new trailer. This is a story trailer showcasing the Midnight Channel. It may not be too big a surprise for those who have played Persona 4 or Persona 4 Golden. If you are someone who hasn’t played Persona 4, though, it should give you a sense of what you are going to experience in February.
Even though The Midnight Channel isn’t new to returning players, this trailer still shows us a few things that will be different. First, the voice acting and voice direction are different. There is a remix of the classic soundtrack in this scene, and it is phenomenal.
If you are new to the game, then the premise is something you might not be familiar with. There is a channel that shows up at Midnight, called The Midnight Channel. It shows people differently than they appear in reality. Our heroes in this game find a way to get into this dimension and tackle things called shadows. The people shown on The Midnight Channel are the shadows of those people. Each character faces their shadow to awaken their Personas.
Shortly after this trailer was dropped, Kazuhisa Wada, dropped a breakdown of the trailer. It discusses in detail the introduction to the story of Persona 4. There is a serial killer in Inaba who is using this dimension to kill people.
Once you confront your shadow, when you talk to them about how you don’t see them as you, it strengthens them considerably. Kazuhisa Wada sees it as a story of discovering new truths about yourself and developing bonds while confronting these events. Persona 4’s story highlights the moments you are with friends and developing connections on days that are peaceful, contrasted with the investigation surrounding the serial killer. Wada talks about these events being a catalyst for why the moments with the cast become even more meaningful when they are at peace.
There is some background development he discusses as well. Notably, even with the new engine and polish, they wanted the atmosphere to feel the same. There will be new UI elements and HUDs that represent more of that modern Persona appeal as well. Atlus really went all out on remaking this title.
I am super hyped for more information and to get my hands on Persona 4 Revival eventually.
Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC.
