Soon You’ll Be Able To Upgrade The PlayStation Plus Version Of Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square Enix has announced that the Playstation Plus version of Final Fantasy VII Remake will now be available to be upgraded to the PS5 version.

Owners of the PSN Plus version will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version, starting on December 23, 2021, for free. In addition, the Episode Intermission, the new episode introducing Yuffie Kisaragi, will be 25% off for a limited time. For those looking to upgrade to the PS5 version and get access to all the content, it’s about to get cheaper this week.

Starting this Wednesday…

• PS Plus subscribers who previously redeemed @FinalFantasy VII Remake via @PlayStation Plus will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game.

When Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced for PlayStation Plus, Square Enix had also crippled the version. While those who purchased the non-PlayStation Plus edition could upgrade to the PS5 and also get access to Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade. Those on the the subscription service were unable to do so. Instead, to get access to the PS5 version they would have to purchase the full game and then upgrade.  Why Square Enix decided to reverse its original stance is anyone’s guess.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently available for the PS4, PS5, and PC (Epic Games Store). Though, if you’re debating on picking up the PC version, I’d hold out for now. The PC port isn’t very good with many performance issues and missing graphical options. I’d stay away from the port for now until Square Enix addresses the game’s current state.
