Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword HD Has Outsold Original Version

When The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD was announced to be coming to the Nintendo Switch…a lot of people were confused, even us here at The Outerhaven. Mainly because we wanted to hear more about Breath of the Wild 2 and not a port from the Wii era. And then when trailers were shown of it…it didn’t look like that much of an HD upgrade.

However, the numbers don’t lie. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD didn’t just sell well on the Switch, it actually sold more than the original Wii version! According to the newest financial briefing, Skyward Sword HD sold 3.6 million in just a few months. While the original Wii version (which came out on the tail end of its life cycle) sold 3.52 million in its lifetime!

This continues the trend of games doing better than their original system releases. Just Mario Kart 8 Deluxe proved that, and many others followed that trend. Showing just how good the Switch is regardless of when the game first came out.
