If history has taught us anything, Blizzard will release an expansion pack for Hearthstone in August and 2021 is no different. Today, Blizzard announced United in Stormwind, their newest expansion which is set to arrive on August 3!
The expansion is set to feature 135 new cards and, of course, new gimmicks such as the following:
- New Keyword: Tradeable – These are cards that can be either played or swapped with a random card in your deck. Utilizing the swapping feature will only cost 1 mana instead of the mana cost on the card.
- Questlines – First we had Quests, then Sidequests, and now we have Questlines. These work the exact same way as Quests and Sidequests; however, instead of fulfilling 1 objective, you need to fulfill three objectives. You get a reward for each step of the quest and once it’s done, you get a powerful legendary mercenary minion! For example, the Mage quest, Soceror’s Gambit wants you to cast a Fire Spell, Frost Spell, and an Arcane Spell. Each time you fulfill one of those steps, you get to draw a spell from your deck. The legendary minions have not been unveiled just yet.
- Mounts – Mounts are spells that can add buffs or effects to a minion on top of giving it a deathrattle effect. When the minion dies, the mount will be summoned. For example, the Priest spell Elekk Mount buffs a million with +4/+7 then when the minion dies, it summons the Elekk.
- Profession Tools – These are weapons that have special effects instead of attack values. For example, the Warlock weapon, Runed Mithril Rod is a 3 mana 0/2 with “After you draw 4 cards, reduce the Cost of cards in your hand by (1). Lose 1 Durability.” The Paladin weapon, Prismatic Jewel Kit is a 1 mana 0/3 with “After a friendly minion loses Divine Shield, give minions in your hand +1/+1. Lose 1 Durability.”
