‘Sing 2’ Official Trailer Released and Looks to be a Blast

One of my favorite animated movies of 2016 and one that I continue to watch is ‘Sing.’ The music, the enjoyable characters, and the cast of amazing talent makes for a fun watch, no matter what age you are. And despite the movie being successful, there wasn’t any talk of a sequel or that I heard. That is, until now as Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have revealed the first official trailer for ‘Sing 2’. Oh yeah, I’m excited.

Sing 2 - Buster Moon
Lovable Koala Buster Moon is back.

The premise this time is our cast of lovable musical friends are looking to make it big, and what way to get bigger than to audition for a big music producer. However, this character Jimmy Crystal played by Bobby Cannavale only wants the best of the best. In a desperate attempt to court his favorite, Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) mentions that he’ll also have a long-forgotten but amazing rock star, Clay Calloway (Sonny Bono), along for the show. This gets Jimmy excited, and he gives the gang 3 weeks to get Clay onboard. Yep, we’re going on an adventure.

While the talent from the original film is making a return; Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Matthew McConaughey, and Nick Kroll, we’ll also see new talent joining up for the sequel, which includes Pharrell Williams, Letitia Wright, Eric Andre, Chelsea Peretti, Grammy winner Halsey, and Sonny Bono (yes, that Sonny Bono). All of this makes for a musical orgasm for your ears. I’m looking forward to this.

The music and talent isn’t the only thing that has gotten an upgrade, as the visuals look sharp, well detailed and the animated definitely looks better than the original Sing. Take a look at it for yourself in the official trailer below.

Sing 2 currently has a December 22, 2021 release date and is only releasing in theaters. Whether that changes or not will depend on the pandemic landscape.
