Zelda & Loftwing Amiibo Revealed

Zelda and Loftwing Nintendo Amiibo

To commemorate the July release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Nintendo has unveiled a new amiibo. This is the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo that is exclusive to the game.

Meet the new Zelda & Loftwing amiibo, launching on 7/16! This amiibo features two characters on a single base and can be used to travel between the surface and the sky in The Legend of Zelda: #SkywardSwordHD.https://t.co/mbhwOfSzX5 pic.twitter.com/YFK5WbYYHZ

There is also a functionality with the amiibo should you also use it with Skyward Sword HD. In the game there are loftwing post that service as travel points between the sky world and the land below. Should you use the amiibo, you can instantly travel between worlds without having to travel to a post. Nintendo also showed that these can be used also in dungeons. If you use the amiibo in the sky world, you can travel back immediately to the point you last used the amiibo on the surface world. Akin to the quick travel medallion you can get in Breath of the Wild.

While this is a nice amiibo to add to the collection, some may feel that this quality of life mechanic should be in the base game and not be exclusive to the amiibo. Plus it adds another amiibo for reseller and scalpers to pursue. Is this a valid critique? Let us know in the comments.

The amiibo will release on the same day as the Skyward Sword HD on July 16 as well as the special themed Joy-cons.
