Pokemon 25th Anniversary Video Highlights History Of Franchise

By Todd BlackJanuary 13, 2021
Pokemon Nintendo Direct, The Pokemon Company

It may not seem like it, but 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise. The game that started out as a simple monster catcher and trainer title became a worldwide phenomenon! One full of games, cards, animes, books, and so on! What started out with 151 Pokemon has now blossomed (or Bellossom’ed?) into 898 Pokemon in total. It’s been a long journey, and this year will be a celebration of it no doubt.

And we can prove that as The Pokemon Company has released a special Rube Goldberg-style video showcasing the many elements of the Pokemon world in a special Pokemon 25th Anniversary video! This video features things like the games, the plushies, the toys, the card games, the anime, Detective Pikachu, Pokemon Go, and even teases a collaboration…with Katy Perry!

Yep, this is big, and things are apparently only going to get bigger from here! It’s possible that the new Pokemon Snap game will come out this year, and there are rumors of Pokemon Let’s Go Johto as well!

We’ll find out more…as the journey continues…
