CBS All Access to be rebranded as Paramount Plus

Viacom has announed that the CBS All Access streaming service will see a rebrand to Paramount Plus as of March 4th, 2021, according to Viacom.

In North America and Latin America, Paramount Plus will be the home of existing CBS All-Access content such as ‘Star Trek’, CBS local stations, NFL games,  Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, Comedy Central, and many more. Also, there will be all-new original content produced in-house, which will be a strong point for the brand. This includes a reboot of the ‘iCarly’ show, a revival of the BET series ‘The Game,’ an animated series based on ‘Sponge Bob ‘called ‘Kamp Koral’ others.

Following the service’s initial roll-out, it will be expanded to Canada on the same date, the Nordics (Europe) on March 25th, and Australia by mid-2021.

There hasn’t been any mention regarding if the rebrand will affect the service’s pricing or not as of yet.  You can now subscribe to CBS All Access for $5.99 a month with ads or $9.99 for ad-free streaming.

ViacomCBS will host an investor-focused ViacomCBS Streaming Event on Feb. 24, which takes place a week ahead of the rebrand. According to the company, “The presentation will deliver a comprehensive overview of the company’s streaming strategy, including Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Showtime OTT.”

This announcement does beg to ask what’s going to happen to CBS’s currently streaming agreements. Today, CBS All Access is available via Amazon Prime, YouTube TV, and Hulu. Will this new streaming service cause these network and its shown to be pulled from existing providers or not remains to be seen.
