Pokemon Yellow Trick Revealed After Over 20 Years

By Todd BlackDecember 8, 2020

The first Pokemon games truly set the world on fire with their unique take on RPG battles with creatures that you catch and collect. The first games were Red and Blue in the US while Japan had Red and Green. But, after the popular arrival of the anime, the Pokemon Yellow version came to life and allowed fans to have their own Pikachu following them around not unlike Ash Ketchum.

The older games don’t exactly hold up to the very modern and beautiful graphics nowadays, but many players go and replay those older games to see what they missed. And one player in Dobbs found out a secret I bet none of you knew (and hey, I’m in that camp too). Check it out below:

Did you know? In Pokemon Yellow, Pikachu can briefly light up a cave after learning Thunderbolt or Thunder! pic.twitter.com/nV07MSUYvB

Yep, that’s right, Pikachu could light up a cave with his Thunderbolt or Thunder move for a brief moment. So if you happened to not have a Pokemon with Flash (which is typically how you would light up a cave, this would help you immensely. Plus, it had a Pikachu animation for it to further cement how much it was intended to be there! Pretty cool, huh?

Pokemon Yellow is still fondly remembered and more than likely will continue to be played as fans try and remember the earliest days of the Pokemon world.
