‘Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ Season 2 Announced

By Andrew AgressOctober 11, 2020
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous

Netflix has announced that its DreamWorks and Universal animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will see the release of a second season in 2021. Set in the Jurassic Park universe around the same time as the events of 2015’s Jurassic World, the show deals with the issues facing six teenagers stranded at a camp on Isla Nublar. Namely, dinosaur-related issues.

The streaming service recently revealed a teaser trailer showcasing season two. When first creating Camp Cretaceous, Steven Spielberg, a producer of the show and director of the original Jurassic Park, stipulated that it shouldn’t be “the kiddy version.” The showrunners stuck to that rule, and it looks like the second season will be even darker than its predecessor.

The announcement of a second season isn’t a big surprise, considering the ending of the first season practically promised a sequel. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t watched, but let’s just say that getting the kids off the island… does not find a way.

If you’re thinking of checking out the show, you can see if an animated trip back to Isla Nublar is worth your while. In our review, we remarked that Camp Cretaceous “doesn’t reinvent the [Jurassic Park] series, the park still goes to the Dinos, but the show dips into all the elements that made Jurassic Park a great thrill ride to begin with.
