Add another Resident Evil 3 remake rumor to the pile

By Keith MitchellNovember 22, 2019
Resident Evil 3 remake in the works?

Resident Evil 3 remake is on everyone’s minds

Update: Eurogamer confirms that Capcom is well underway with Resident Evil 3’s development cycle.

While it was pretty much confirmed (but not officially) by Capcom that they were working on a new Resident Evil remake, based on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. It seems that a prominent leaker has speculated that not only is this game in development but will be released in 2020.

Youtuber, Spawnwave, who correctly confirmed several other games in the past, including Elden Ring from Bandai Namco. While he’s not the first to speculate on this remake, it does go to show that this is yet one of Capcom’s worst-kept secrets.

In a new video, he goes on to state that not only does he believe this game is in production, but we’ll also hear something regarding this at the upcoming 2019 Game Awards Show. Which just happens to take place in a few weeks.

Check out his recent video regarding the RE3 project below.

Man, we were hoping that Capcom was working on this, and when we’d hear something about it. Still, even without this rumor/leak, you had to figure Capcom was already on this. Resident Evil 2 was a breakout success for them and is a GOTY nominee in multiple lists.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t hear about it soon, or at the least early 2020. It’s not that Capcom wasn’t already looking at working on this. Back during a GameWatch interview, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the producer of Resident Evil 2 mentioned that if this game was to be made then it would be up the fans. Something to which the fans have been talking about non-stop.

So, even if we didn’t get these constant rumors, I’m sure this remake would be a sure thing anyway. Capcom loves that the fans love them, and they love (now anyway) revisiting their older IPs. So, sure, why the heck now. Of course, this all should be taken with a grain of salt as Capcom hasn’t announced anything as of yet.

If there people who played Resident Evil 2 and couldn’t handle Mister X. How the hell are they going to handle dealing with Nemesis and his bazooka of boom?
