Never fear, Overwatch 2 is here

There goes another rumor or leak confirmed, as Overwatch 2 has been announced at Blizzcon 2019.

Overwatch 2 is retaining the 6v6 team battles and a new game mode called push is being added. There will be new maps, and emphasizes on stories throughout the game. We also see several returning characters, while some other mainstays haven’t been shown yet.

Jeff Kaplan has also mentioned that there will be new heroes, and also confirmed Sojourn. Who happens to be one of the original members of Overwatch. She was leaked a while back as well, as seen by the image below.

Kaplan has also stated that players of the original game will also be able to play alongside Overwatch 2 players in all of the new and original maps. Basically a shared multiplayer environment.

Several of the original characters have also received some cosmetic tweaks as well. This includes Winston, Mei, Mercy, Genji, and Lucio. Blizzard has set up a page that shows the older and newer models here. Other mainstays such as Pharaoh (my main), Solider 76 and several others were no shows in the recent announcement. I hope they make it into the game.

The game is playable on the Blizzcon 2019, so we can expect some impressions to start popping up over the weekend. We’ll find out more about that during the Blizzcon 2019 “Overwatch: What’s Next” panel that place today.

As for the platforms, it has been confirmed for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

For now, enjoy this emotional announcement trailer.
