Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 releasing October 1st in the West

Update: According to the PlayStation Blog’s The Drop column, Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 will be released this October 1st, 2019. It’s been a while since this was announced, so I’m happy to see that we finally have a release date.

Original story below:

While Bandai Namco’s Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 has been available in the East since the end of 2018. We weren’t sure if this title would make its way West. Thankfully we won’t have to wonder about that anymore as the title is finally making its way West.

Announced during the Anime Expo 2019 during Bandai Namco’s “Play Anime” panel. For those who haven’t heard about the game before, let me break it down. Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 is a Free to Play (F2P) Gundam title that features 6 vs 6 battles. That includes both ground and space combat missions.

Not to mention the game features a large variety of suits from military-themed Mobile Suit Gundam animes. Such as from Mobile Suit Gundam, War in the Pocket, 08th MS Team, Thunderbolt, and even…. IGLOO (Shudder). There are also a few suits from the older Gundam titles such as Gundam Side Story 0079. You’ll also be able to customize all of the available suits as well.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 is still a PlayStation 4 exclusive, however, I’m still hoping that this does eventually make its way to the PC as well. Even still, as a huge Gundam fan, I’m glad to see the game is finally coming to our shores.

Lastly, you don’t need to be a subscriber of the PlayStation Network to play online. Or at least you didn’t need to be for the Eastern version. No word as of yet if that will change or not when this comes West. Meanwhile, check out the English website, here.

I’ll see you online! Just remember, that’s no Zaku, boy! NO ZAKU!
