How to Defeat the Armored Warrior in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Where to find the Armored Warrior and how to Defeat him

Sekiro is full of encounters where you’ll want to smash your controller in a fit of rage. We’ve all been there. That’s where we come in, with a bit of assistance.

This time around, we’re talking about taking down the boss known as Armored Warrior. You’ll encounter him while traveling from the Shugendo Idol, located at the Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo. He’ll be blocking access to cross a bridge, and the only way to get past him is to defeat him. You’ll be stuck in the encounter once it starts, so get ready.

How to defeat the Armored Warrior.

This boss is a bit tricky as you can’t defeat him using traditional methods. Instead, you need to position him near exposed areas on the bridge that he’ll create. Then you’ll need to perform a Deathblow to knock him off the bridge.

The key here is to get his posture down so far that a few attacks will allow you to do the Deathblow. Then get him in front of the exposed bridge parts and get him to face you. Since the Deathblow here will kick him forward, this is the only way to beat him. If you do the Deathblow anywhere else, he’ll shrug off the attack and taunt you.

Block his attacks; they’re easy to see and circle around him when he charges or does a heavy attack. The weapon is so heavy that it takes him a few seconds to get up afterward. Use the Shinobi Firecracker to stagger him if need be. Run to either end of the bridge to heal if you need to. He’s so slow he won’t make it in time to stop you. If he does the multi-swing attack, just dodge around him. You can parry it, but if you mess up, you’ll eat a ton of damage.

Gokan’s Sugar will also help with posture damage, and I advise you to use it. He swings a mean sword. Once you perform the Deathblow in the correct location, the Armored Warrior will plummet to his death, screaming the name of his son, Robert.

Once defeated, you’ll be rewarded with a Prayer Bead and you’ll be able to cross the bridge unhindered.
