Sega Announces New Yakuza Game for PlayStation 4

By Josh PiedraMarch 21, 2019

It was announced by Sega that a new Yakuza game is on the way and it will be coming to PlayStation 4! They said that Ichiban Kasuga will serve as the main protagonist for this latest entry into the series. While details, such as story, are not available yet; the plan is to have a female counterpart for Kasuga and Sega has announced that auditions are currently being held for the role. The person that lands the role will be part of the promotional campaign for the game as well as receive 1 million yen ($9,000 USD) as a cash prize.

While this is being developed for the Japanese market, there were no announcements on whether or not the title will make its way to the West. The previous installment, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life did make its way here as it launched back in April 2018, also for the PlayStation 4. However, it took a couple of years to do so as the original launch date in Japan for the title was December 2016. While we cannot guarantee that it won’t be the same way this time around, I wouldn’t be shocked if we didn’t see this title until 2021 here in the U.S., if we even see it at all.
