FUNimation’s Re:Zero Home Media Release Receives Replacement Offer

By Josh PiedraFebruary 5, 2019
re:zero

FUNimation stated that there was a discrepancy between FUNimation and Crunchyroll about the materials to be used in the creation of the first home media release for the Re:Zero anime. As a result, FUNimation sent out a message stating that anyone who purchased the set during the time where the incorrect materials were used can get the disc replaced free of charge.

If you choose to get a free replacement, simply send an email to funimationstore@funimation.com with “ReZERO” in the subject. In the email, include your name, mailing address, and email address. Sadly, you won’t be able to keep the disc as FUNimation will ask for them back. They will send you an RMA number and an address to send the disc back to them. This leaves you with the option of losing a collectible item in exchange for intended release or keeping it and buying the new one so you have both versions. Of course, there’s the third option of not doing anything at all.

As of now, this offer is only valid in the U.S. and Canada between now and October 31, 2019. There hasn’t been any mention if this issue affected the U.K. release of the anime. If you do order a replacement, expect to wait a little bit as FUNimation stated that they will not begin to ship out the replacements until March.

One of the big issues described when it came to the incorrect materials is color banding artifacts in some frames. This happened where gradients were meant to be displayed.
