It has been speculated over the past month that video streaming service Netflix was set to raise their prices. Netflix officially announced on Wednesday that they have, indeed, decided to raise the subscription price for their services which affects the United States and 40 Latin American countries.

The price of Netflix’s most popular plan was raised from $11 to $13 per month while their highest-tier plan went from $14 to $16 per month. The basic plan was only raised by one dollar, going from $8 to $9 per month. The basic plan does not allow for HD streaming while the $13/mo. plan does. Their highest plan offers 4K streaming on up to 4 devices.

The new pricing will slowly roll out for existing subscribers over the next three months; however, those new prices are effective immediately for any and all new subscribers.
