Nyotengu and Phase-4 Returns to Dead Or Alive 6…As Pre-order DLC

By William "Shadowz" KokSeptember 10, 2018

Well this isn’t going to anger some people.

In preparation for Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo released a new trailer for Dead or Alive 6. This shows of some of the new story and confirming returning characters like Ayane, Marie Rose, and Ryu Hayabusa. We also get to release date for the game. It will be released on February 15, 2019.

Afterwards, they gave a press release confirming that the female Tengu, Nyotengu, and Phase-4 will be preorder DLC for the game. Details are as follows:

Here’s more info on pre-orders and bonus items for Dead or Alive 6:

  • PlayStation 4 Pre-orders: Comes with a unique Dead or Alive 6 theme as well as “The Female Tengu” Nyotengu as a playable character.
  • Xbox One Pre-orders: includes Nyotengu as a DLC character as well as a pre-order costume for Ryu Hayabusa.
  • Digital Bonus: Bonus costume for Kasumi. Those who purchase on Steam by March 14, 2019 will collect the Kasumi costume as well as Nyotengu as a DLC character.
  • Digital Deluxe Edition: The Digital Deluxe Edition on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam includes a set of 25 extra costumes, 3 bonus musical tracks, a DDX exclusive Kasumi costume, and an additional character, the formidable Kasumi clone, Phase-4.
Base on your console of choice, you will get Nyotengu and a cosmetic item. For the digital versions, you will get Kasumi’s clone Phase-4. This appears to be the running trend of fighting games now. Previously available fighters will be stuck behind a paywall in future games. This just seems disingenuous of Koei Tecmo. Players who are Nyotengu or Phase-4 mains will now have to pay to get back their fighters back.  Plus to deny players and fans this:

I know she’s a thousand-year-old tengu, but still…

For now, you can play as her and Phase-4 in Dead or Alive 5: Last Round. Or if you are a person of culture, you can see her on Zack Island in Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3.

Dead Or Alive 6 will be released in February 15, 20,19 for PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.
