Makoto Shinkai Hints at New Feature Film for 2019

Makoto Shinkai

Makoto Shinkai took to Twitter and teased that he was working on a brand-new feature film which would be slated to release sometime in 2019. Makoto Shinkai’s tweet can be seen below:

Thank you for the warm words. We are producing a new feature film for next year. I hope you guys look forward to it! https://t.co/AHG4ZJp1KY

Outside of this tease, there is nothing known about the film, it’s story, nor an exact release date. Makoto Shinkai was known for films such as 5 Centimeters per Second, Voices of a Distant Star, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, Dareka no Manazashi, and The Garden of Words before his 2016 film Kimi no Na wa (Your Name) shattered box office records and even toppled Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away as the highest-grossing anime film of all-time as well as the fourth highest-grossing film of any medium in Japan.
