SDCC 2018: ‘Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus’ Trailer Revealed

By Sara Roncero-MenendezJuly 21, 2018

Invader Zim is a unique show, with its goth color palette, grotesque animation, and dark comedy. For many, including myself, it was a formative show that made us all seem a little bit crazy. And so when it was announced that the show would be getting a movie, many were excited to see what new insanity was to come.

We’ve finally gotten our first images of the forthcoming movie, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, and it looks like very little has changed:

But don’t expect to have your mind blown, according to Jhonen Vasquez, the show’s creator. “What I’m making isn’t going to be the best episode of Invader Zim,” he told Polygon. “I would be battling people’s childhoods and trying to carve out space for a new favorite thing, and that’s the worst attitude to have when making this stuff.”

One thing that’s interesting is that no voices were shown in the trailer, which makes me wonder if they’ve encountered some issues getting all the original voice actors back. We do know that Richard Horvitz is returning as Zim and Rikki Simons as Gir, and Andy Berman as Dib. Either that, or maybe they are trying to keep the plot a secret. So far, we know it will revolve around Phase Two of Zim’s plan to take over the Earth, and Dib seems to be obsessing in his room, probably over catching Zim in the act of his alieness.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus will premiere on Nickelodeon, though the date has not yet announced.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
