‘The Lego Movie 2’ Trailer Shows A Glimpse At A Brick Filled Apocalypse

By Jacob SmithJune 7, 2018

Four years after the release of the original, the creators of The Lego Movie have given us a glimpse into the sequel. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part takes place in an apocalyptic Bricksburg following the Taco Tuesday fiasco that concluded the first title.

An alien invasion by Duplo (Lego’s toddler-friendly counterpart) has rendered the home of our protagonists a wasteland where everything is indeed not awesome. Of course, Chris Pratt’s Emmet doesn’t let any of this get him down. Even as cyborgs roam the desolated streets and an imminent alien threat looms over everyone, the hero of the first film remains unshaken in his quest to crack wise and stay positive.

Despite the bleak setting and dreary outlook present in the trailer, the humor the series started strong on is clearly in no short supply. Plenty of recognizable names are attached to The Second Part as well including Will Arnett, Alison Brie, Stephanie Beatriz, Tiffany Haddish, and the aforementioned  Chris Pratt.

Clearly producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord know the scope of the talent and brand they’re working with as they navigate the familiar territory the second installment seems to present. From a dusty and decimated Bricksburg, all the way to another solar system, this teaser trailer has it all.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part hits theaters February 8th, 2019.
