Hearthstone: The Witchwood Receives Release Date

By Josh PiedraApril 5, 2018
The Witchwood

Blizzard Entertainment announced today that the newest Hearthstone expansion, The Witchwood, will be releasing on April 12!

For the past week and a half, various streamers, websites, and media outlets have been unveiling cards for the new expansion. A total of 135 cards will be revealed when all is said an done, but with the expansion looming just a week from now, individual reveals alone will not fill out the expansion’s entire set in time. Therefore, Blizzard will be hosting a final card reveal stream on April 9 at 11 am PDT (2 pm EDT) on their official Twitch channel which can be located here: https://www.twitch.tv/playhearthstone

This also means the time to pre-order the expansion is running thin. Doing so will give you 50 Witchwood card packs along with 20 bonus card packs. This makes this the most cards Blizzard has ever given away with a pre-order deal. You also get a special card back that you can use the moment you pre-purchase.

Also, for the past week and a half, completing daily quests rewards you with a random card pack. The card packs come from the Journey to Un’goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, Kobolds & Catacombs or even The Witchwood expansions! Sadly, if you go get a Witchwood card pack, you cannot open it until April 12 when the expansion goes live.

This expansion will mark the beginning of the Year of the Raven which means Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, One Night in Karazhan and Whispers of the Old Gods will be rotating out of Standard and becoming Wild only. Also, the Mage secret Ice Block and the neutral cards Coldlight Oracle and Molten Giant will be entering the Hall of Fame, meaning that despite being Classic set/class cards, they will only be available in Wild. Molten Giant will be un-nerfed back to 20 mana rather than its current 25 mana value once it rotates out.
