Gravity Rush 2 Owners Successfully Push Back Server Shutdown Date

By Keith MitchellJanuary 12, 2018

The power of the internet, folks!

Previously sony had announced that they would be shutting down the servers for Gravity Rush 2, as of Jan. 18, 2018. Oddly enough, this was only a year after the game was available in North America. this meant that if you hadn’t already collected all the items (costumes) that were exclusive to the online mode, you would lose out. This frustrated more than a fair share of owners of the title, for obvious reasons. I’d be upset too if I just picked up the game, only to find out this nonsense.

Tons of posts started showing up on Twitter, Reddit, and other places. Asking Sony to either change their mind or delay the shutdown. Well, it seems that Sony was paying attention, as they have changed the server shutdown date. It’s been pushed back by several months and the shutdown won’t happen until July 18, 2-018 10PM PDT/July 19, 1AM EDT.

Great news for those who haven’t had a chance to snag all the online items. And even better for those who just picked up the game. Still, it is odd that Sony would shut down the online servers for a game that has only been available for a year. I’d rather they extend it for at least another year, but a six-month reprieve is better than none.

C’mon Sony, killing servers after just a year is not a good look. Whatever happened to “This is for the gamers”?
