Here are the 2018 Oscar Nominees

By Sara Roncero-MenendezJanuary 23, 2018

It is time once again to gather around and overthink who is going to win a small, golden statue for reasons that will be mostly political rather than based on talent. That’s right, it’s the Oscars!

This year does have a few surprises. While The Shape of Water does still have the most nominations, del Toro will be going head-to-head with another visionary horror talent, Jordan Peele. Phantom Thread has a number of nominations, having not gotten through for other awards. Logan, the excellent X-Men film, got a nomination for best adapted screenplay, of all things. And, weirdly enough, Blade Runner 2049 is getting in for a lot of the technical awards. Did your favorites get the Oscar nod of approval? Check out our list below:

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
