Game Awards Reveals Their GOTY Nominations

It’s official, the Game of the Year nominations have begun. And the first one to fire shots over the bow as it were is the Game Awards, which will take place on December 7th. Their official channel broke down many awards categories, but many are naturally focused on the GOTY category. And though there are some “natural” pics, there is one big surprise:

That’s right, Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Persona 5, and Horizon: Zero Dawn are going to be joined by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Now, why is this a surprise? Well, it’s because PUBG isn’t technically a released game, it’s currently in Steam Early Access, and thus, many on the internet believe it’s not deserving of a nomination.

What’s more, this nomination has crushed the hopes of Platinum Games fans, as they felt Nier: Automata deserved a nomination in the GOTY category. But do take heart though, they did make it into the “Best RPG” category, so that is something, right?

So, to help determine who wins, simply go to the Game Awards website and place your vote. And be sure to check out all the categories and place your votes for them too.
