April Fools 2017: Suda 51 Confirms Travis Touchdown For Smash Bros. 5?

The Nintendo Switch has already been a major hit and has already sold millions of consoles. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to be a console seller, and it got the ball rolling in a lot of ways. But now, fans are wondering what’s coming next. We know Splatoon 2 is coming, we know Super Mario Odyssey is coming, Fire Emblem Warriors is coming, and Fire Emblem Switch is coming. One game everyone wants to know about is Super Smash Bros.

It’s a forgone conclusion that the Nintendo Switch is getting Smash Bros. 5. But of course, everyone wants to know who the new characters in it will be. Well, if an interview with the one and only Suda 51 is to be believed…Travis Touchdown is coming to the game.

Yes, that’s right, the star of No More Heroes is apparently going to be in the game. In the interview, Suda was talking about the previous confirmed No More Heroes 3 that was coming to the Nintendo Switch, which of course would bring Travis Touchdown back into the spotlight. But Suda let slip that his involvement with Nintendo would continue in Smash Bros. 5. In the interview, he said:

“Very excited to bring Travis Touchdown back to the Nintendo universe…it’s very appropriate as he was born on the Nintendo Wii…and now to bring him back for this third game…then having him be in Smash…uh…probably shouldn’t have said that!”

Travis Touchdown

Now, it’s hardly confirmation that Travis Touchdown is coming to Smash Bros. 5, but…it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t say “Smash” if he didn’t mean to fully say “Smash Bros.”. He’d be the latest in the third party characters to join the Smash Bros. roster, joining the ranks of Snake, Sonic, Ryu, Cloud, Bayonetta, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and more.

So, are you excited for Travis Touchdown in Smash Bros.? Well, we would be too…if this wasn’t an April Fool’s joke! Sorry!
