Paper Mario: Color Splash, seeks to bring some classic touches from the Paper Mario and add a new mechanic in the form of bringing color back into the world. There is a lot of pressure on this game since the last two Paper Mario titles, Paper Jam and Sticker Star, didn’t really live up to the expectations of fans.
At PAX West, IGN got to play Paper Mario: Color Splash, and recorded a lengthy demo. In it, it not only shows off the combat system, which brings back the card battling mechanic from Paper Jam, but also the very large, and beautifully rendered word. Also though, it shows off the “item” cards, which can summon things such as giant cats, breakdancing pigs, and the most beautiful video game lemon…ever.
