Wizards of the Coast and Mattel are bringing the power of Grayskull to Magic: The Gathering with Secret Lair x Masters of the Universe: The Most Powerful Superdrop in the Universe, launching September 14.
First teased during MagicCon: Amsterdam, the new Superdrop consists of five different Masters of the Universe collections featuring He-Man, Skeletor, She-Ra, and plenty of familiar faces from Eternia and Etheria. The artwork pulls inspiration from classic Masters of the Universe packaging and animation while reimagining existing Magic cards as characters, weapons, and locations from the franchise. Brings me back to my childhood…
And yes, Skeletor finally gets to be the center of attention. Surely nothing will go wrong with that.
By the Power of Grayskull!
He-Man leads the first drop alongside several of his closest allies:
- Winota, Joiner of Forces as He-Man, Champion of Eternia
- Crackle with Power
- Delina, Wild Mage as Orko, Trollan Magician
- Bruenor Battlehammer as Man-At-Arms, Master Tactician
- Konda’s Banner as He-Man’s Battle Harness

Naturally, Skeletor wasn’t going to let He-Man have all the fun:

- Tasha’s Hideous Laughter as Skeletor’s Villainous Glee

- Necrogen Mists as Evil Warriors’ Shroud

She-Ra, Princess of Power
She-Ra and the Great Rebellion get their own six-card drop:

Wizards also notes that collectors who pick up the entire Superdrop can combine cards from the different releases into a Masters of the Universe-themed Commander deck built around She-Ra.
Allies and Enemies of Eternia
The fourth drop digs deeper into the wider cast:
- Sakashima the Impostor as Man-E-Faces, Actor of Eternia
- Kona, Rescue Beastie as Beast Man, Savage Henchman
- Ertai Resurrected as Evil-Lyn, Evil Warrior Goddess

Finally, because He-Man without Battle Cat would just feel wrong, the last drop focuses on some of the franchise’s iconic equipment, creatures, and locations:

Between He-Man, Skeletor, She-Ra, Battle Cat, the Sword of Power, and even Castle Grayskull’s extended cast showing up, Wizards certainly didn’t hold much back for this collaboration. Now the real battle for Eternia begins September 14, except this time the battlefield is probably going to be the Secret Lair checkout queue.
