Gears of War 4 Multiplayer Beta to Start on April 18

By Keith MitchellMarch 15, 2016

Looks like the cat is out of the bag. Microsoft has just announced that the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta will start very soon, in fact as soon as April 18.

Beginning on April 18, fans who’ve played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 will begin to receive tokens in waves for early access to the beta. Following the conclusion of early access on April 24, all qualifying Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One will be invited to join the beta until it ends on May 1. Players will be able to take control of 5 playable characters which include JD Fenix, Kait Diaz, Delmont “Del” Walker, Reyna Diaz and Oscar Diaz. In addition, the beta will run at 1080p/60fps, unlike the single player campaign which will run at 1080p/30fps.

Also, if you missed out the first time, you’re in luck as they’ve also extended the qualifying time to get into the beta. Originally you had to play a few games of Gears or War: Ultimate to qualify. Well they’ve extended the time frame from March 1st to April 11, 2016. So if you want to get into the beta but haven’t played the Ultimate Edition yet, you still got time to do so.

Finally, Gears of War 4 will be at PAX East 2016! Yep! So if you’re heading up to Boston, to attend PAX EAST 2016, all you have to do is stop by the Microsoft booth to check out and even partake in some Gears of War 4 multiplayer action!

*To qualify for early access to the Gears of War 4 Multiplayer Beta on Xbox One, log in to Xbox Live and play Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 by 11:00PM PDT, April 11. Tokens for the beta will be distributed in waves through the Xbox Live messaging system and begin arriving Monday April 18. For both Early Access and Xbox Live Gold periods, must be 17+. Xbox One, broadband internet (ISP fees apply) and Xbox Live Gold membership (sold separately) required. Beta dates, content, and features subject to change. Not available in all markets.
