Well, this is certainly some fantastic news to wake up to. 505 Games has announced that it is reuniting with Xia Siyuan, the original creator of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, to develop a sequel to the Soulslike action RPG. Ironically, I kept contacting 505 Games to ask if they had any plans for the title since since they owned the IP, and they’d never answer me.
The new game will be developed by Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology Co., Ltd., better known as Indolphinity, a new Chinese development studio founded by Xia Siyuan, the original director of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Under this agreement, Indolphinity will lead the creative development of the sequel, while 505 Games will fund and publish the game worldwide.
I really enjoyed the original Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, despite some of the issues the game had at launch. So, when I found out that the original development team had been disbanded, I was rather upset. It felt like we might never get another game that could build upon what the original did so well. Thankfully, that no longer appears to be the case. Having Xia Siyuan back in charge of the franchise’s creative direction is fantastic news, to say the least. There’s no word on how many of the original team is being brought back as of yet.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was originally released on July 24, 2025, and managed to attract more than 131,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch. According to 505 Games, the game has since reached more than five million players across PC and consoles.
Digital Bros Group, the parent company of 505 Games, acquired the intellectual property rights for Wuchang in April 2026. Following that acquisition, the company began working with Xia Siyuan and Indolphinity to determine the future of the franchise. 505 Games says the partnership is intended to preserve the authenticity and cultural identity of Wuchang, with all future creative development remaining in China. Digital Bros will also establish a dedicated subsidiary in Chengdu to support the development team and the publishing of the sequel.
“We strongly believe in WUCHANG as a long-term global franchise, and partnering with Xia Siyuan and Indolphinity is a natural step in building its future,” said Raffi Galante, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Digital Bros Group. “From the outset, our priority has been to safeguard and amplify the original creative vision, while equipping the development team with the resources and publishing expertise needed to succeed worldwide.”
Xia Siyuan also stated that Indolphinity intends to listen closely to player feedback while remaining committed to the cultural foundations and original creative vision of the series.
“Wuchang’s story is far from over,” said Xia Siyuan. “Together, Indolphinity and 505 Games are set out on a new journey, unfolding an entirely new chapter of WUCHANG’s story that is deeply rooted in the Eastern soil.”
There is currently no release window, platform information, or official title for the upcoming sequel. Still, knowing that the original creator is back and directly involved gives me considerably more confidence in the future of the series.
Hopefully, Indolphinity is able to take everything that worked about Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, address the problems that held it back, and deliver an even better Soulslike the second time around. Either way, I am glad that Wuchang is getting another chance.
