#Pokemon20 Super Bowl Commercial First Look

By Walter MackJanuary 25, 2016

Hello, trainers! A rather lengthy first look was posted a few hours ago across Pokemon’s social media channels. This year marks the 20th anniversary since the launch of Pokemon and its furry yellow mascot, Pikachu. Many are wondering if this pertains to the upcoming location-based mobile game, Pokemon GO. If this is the case, this may be the confirmation that the first generation roster won’t be the only Pokemon available.

In addition, for Pokemon’s 20th anniversary, a number of events and releases will be taking place in 2016:

  • Free legendary Pokemon every month starting in February
  • Nintendo 3DS with classic Pokemon Red/Blue version pre-installed (Comes with Charizard/Blastoise cover plates)
  • Pokken Tournament released on Wii U
  • Pokemon: Generations booster packs for the Pokemon TCG
  • Pokemon: Mythical Pokemon Collection for the Pokemon TCG
  • First three Pokemon movies remastered
  • Trainer Red: Champion Ver. Nendroid figure
  • A host of other 20th anniversary merchandise
700
Starting in February, a new Pokemon will be free every month

Anyway, for the trailer, take a look below!

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
