Mighty No. 9 officially delayed by Comcept despite being ‘pretty much finished’

By Keith MitchellAugust 5, 2015

Recently several online retailers, including Amazon.com, had changed their release date for the eagerly awaiting Mighty No .9 release until 2016. However this happened however the news took off like wildfire with fans and critics a like going head to head wither that was a mistake or if the title had actually been delayed. This went on a few days in fact. However being a backer of the title, I took to the official Mighty No .9 forums to see if Compcept had made some sort of announcement, to either downplay the rumors and speculation or to confirm the delay.

Only there was nothing from the company, not one single response. This was taken to be that the game had not been delayed and that it was just a mistake on the part of the retailers, though you have to wonder why several retailers made the change at the same right. I mean someone had to said “hey, change it up, it’s delayed”.

However it seems that all has changed as of today. Comcept has officially stated that Mighty No .9, is in fact delayed until some time in 2016. There’s no actual release date either, which makes this delay hurt so much.

We have an important announcement to share with our backers.

Although we understand that everyone was looking forward to playing Mighty No. 9 as soon as possible, a release delay is going to be announced for the game at Gamescom 2015, which is currently being held in Cologne, Germany.

This is a project that would not have existed without the support of our backers, so we at least wanted to deliver this news to our backers before it is officially announced. We are unable to confirm a final release date at this time, however we will be aiming for a release in Q1 2016. Once a solid release date is set, we will announce it immediately to our backers and fans.

Of course this comes after the company had stated that there were only minor issues to correct and the game was just about done, that was a back in January 2015 and the person who delivered the news was none other than Keiji Inafune himself.

We’re pretty much finished, and from now we’ll be heading into the porting and promotion of stage. — Keiji Inafune

This is the 3rd time that Mighty No .9 has been delayed, as the title was originally slated for a April 2015 release and then later on with September 2015 release and now it’s sometime in (Q1) 2016. Reasons sited are that the company wants to work out any remaining bugs and fix them, even though in January the title was all but completed.

Currently, comcept and their partners are working at full capacity to resolve these issues and fix any remaining bugs. In addition, we have received quite a few requests for additional information regarding the various platforms that are part of the platform survey we have sent out. We have also only managed to receive around half of the total responses needed for the survey

Mind you that this news comes from days of persistent rumors and should have been something that was announced not only to the world but also the backers before any of the proverbial shit hit the fan. I for one am sadly disappointed in how this entire game is being handled and to be fair, if i had a chance to do the Kickstarter again especially after what I know now, I would not have partook in it. And I’m sure i’m not the only one who would say that either. And yes gang, it’s too later to get your money back, so don’t bother trying.

Guess we’ll have just one more title to look forward to in 2016.
