D.Gray-man Manga Returns!!

By Josh PiedraJuly 4, 2015

The August issue of Shueisha’s JUMP Square magazine has made the stunning announcement that Katsura Hoshino’s D.Gray-man manga series will be returning! The series will be published in the brand new quarterly magazine JUMP Square Crown.  The new magazine will launch on July 17, 2015 and will contain both D.Gray-man and Blood Blockade Battlefront.

Katsura Hoshino started the D.Gray-man manga back in 2004 as a part of Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen JUMP magazine. The series has gone on hiatus numerous times due to Hoshino’s health as well as accusations of plagiarism. The manga switched from weekly releases to monthly releases upon its return, but went on hiatus again back in 2013.  Hoshino has been critically acclaimed for the series with her unique and detailed art style.  That art style lead her to other projects, including designing the characters for the Freezing anime, as well as one-shot manga in 2013 called Demon King.

D.Gray-man left off on chapter 218 and tells the story of Allen Walker, the protege of General Marian Cross and his adventures as part of the Black Order.. an organization of exorcists who use materialized Innocence to gain special powers to fight demons (akuma) created by the evil Millennium Earl.  The manga spawned a long-running anime that lasted for 103 episodes.
