Crowdfunding Love: Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse

By Keith MitchellMarch 13, 2015

Being touted as an action/adventure game with a twist, Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse is an upcoming title from Steamroller Studios. In Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse, you play the role of Lathe who is a teen-aged woodling who also happens to be quite the inventor, that must fight back the massive hordes of wooden zombies who are also know as “The Deadwood”. But don’t worry as you aren’t along, a stone giant named Roguard will fight along side you and protect you against the deadwood hordes and will let you explore the land of Knottington and gather resources that you’ll need to progress…. during the day that is.

During the night however, your stone pal tends to fall asleep (dang it!), leaving you to use your wits to survive against the lumbering deadwood, that arise for your blood, er sap.  But you’re an inventor and are bound to have a thing or two that you can build with those resources you collected to lay the smack down of those baddies. It’s like a Zelda X Don’t Starve tag team!

Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? And that’s just a few tidbits from Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse, there’s tons more that lie in store for you. Currently in development by Steamroller Studios, this title is a labor of love from a collection of team members who are no stranger to crafting epic worlds and stories, many have even worked on a few productions you may have heard of; The Hobbit, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and to name a few. The title has actually been in development for some time and has been something that the team has worked on, along side their full-time jobs and now they want to ramp up the production and get this game completed.

And this is where they need your help!

They have decided to make Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse their main point of focus, which as you all know means less time at their regular jobs. Dedicated to getting this game out, they have launched a Kickstarter campaign and hope that you’ll fall in love with what they’ve done so far and what they’re planning on doing for the future of the title. In order to make this game the best that it can be and to be sure that everything they’ve planned to do with the title makes it into the game, the Kickstarter was created.  At the time of this article they were at 20% ($16,059) of their goal of $65,000, with 25 days left to go.

From everything I’ve seen and heard, I know I’ll be pitching in to help Steamroller Studios reach their goal and I hope that for everything else who reads this article will do the game. It’s charming, good looking and more than anything, it’s a passion for the members of the team. I’ll take people who are passionate about their craft any day of the week. I implore you to check out their Kickstarter page and follow the status of the Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse by following the team on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube.

Let’s help them make this a reality folks!

Besides if you don’t help, who’s going to keep those Deadwood away from me?
