District 9’s Blomkamp to Direct the Next Alien Movie

By Aaron SandersFebruary 20, 2015

Neil Blomkamp took to Instagram the other day and posted this picture to his fans:

With the picture, Blomkamp wrote the caption as, “Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien”, confirming that he will direct the next Alien movie. Deadline reports that Blomkamp’s Alien film will take place after Prometheus 2, that Ridley Scott is still making, and that there are no scripts ready for either film.

Though it will take some time until we see the Blomkamp’s entry to the Alien franchise, it is cause for excitement given the director’s profile consisting of District 9, Elysium, and the upcoming film Chappie. Now the waiting game begins.
