Five Major Anime Pirate Sites Targeted in U.S. Subpoena Request

By Josh PiedraJune 26, 2024

The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment has requested through the U.S. court system, subpoenas for five major anime pirating sites that have a combined user base of 137 million.

The five sites being targeted are:

  • animesonlinecc.to
  • kickassanime.mx
  • goojara.to
  • anitaku.to
  • anitaku.so

The subpoenas are requesting the personal information of those who operate those particular sites. Most of these websites are operating out of foreign countries such as Tonga, Mexico, and Somalia. It remains to be seen how effective these subpoenas are since it’s pretty much guaranteed that the site operators provide false information to website domain providers. There is also the issue of international law and the enforcement of such laws as the aforementioned countries are said to be pretty lax when it comes to shutting down piracy sites such as these.

It isn’t going to stop the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment from trying through. The group is comprised of companies such as Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Disney, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Universal, and Warner Bros. Discovery.
