Are New IPs Guaranteed For The Nintendo Switch 2?

Nintendo seemingly implies that!

The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the most talked about things in the gaming space, and it hasn’t even come out yet! The console is going to have to follow-up the greatness that is/was the original Switch and attempt to do even better. That’s not an easy thing to do, as Nintendo itself admits. During the latest shareholders’ meeting, the company was asked various questions about the future, one of which was about creating new IPs for its player base. The answer The Big N gave was illuminating, to say the least:

Shinya Takashi (Nintendo EPD General Manager) on the creation of New IP:

“We are considering development for customers who enjoy Nintendo franchises, but also to customers who want to enjoy something new.”

While only revealing so much, it does indicate that The Big N knows that it needs to not only rely on its established IPs to move consoles and sell lots of software but also to bring in new series and titles to help shake things up. Just on the Switch, we got new IPs like ARMS, Mario + Rabbids, Ring Fit Adventure, and Princess Peach Showtime, all of which did well. That doesn’t touch new 3rd-party IPs like Astral Chain, Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy, and more.

So it makes sense for the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring in new IPs to show that The Big N isn’t just resting on its laurels, but creating new experiences for familiar and fresh gamers to take part in.
