Video Game Hall of Fame Adds New Entries for 2024

The Strong National Museum of Play announced the 2024 lineup of their Video Game Hall of Fame inductees! There were 12 finalists; however, only a select few made the cut!

Here are your 2024 inductees:

  • Resident Evil (1996)
  • Ultima (1981)
  • Sim City (1989)
  • Myst (1993)
  • Asteroids (1979)

The Video Game Hall of Fame started in 2016. This list has grown quite a bit since then. All inductees are as follows:

2016

  • The Legend of Zelda (1986)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)
  • Space Invaders (1978)
  • Grand Theft Auto III (2001)
  • The Oregon Trail (1971)
  • The Sims (2000)

2017

  • Donkey Kong Country (1981)
  • Halo: Combat Evolved (2001)
  • Pokemon Red & Green (1996)
  • Street Fighter II (1991)

2018

  • Spacewar! (1962)
  • John Madden Football (1990)
  • Tomb Raider (1996)

The selection process is described as follows:

Anyone may nominate a game to the World Video Game Hall of Fame. Final selections are made on the advice of journalists, scholars, and other individuals familiar with the history of video games and their role in society.
