Hikaru Utada’s Simple & Clean Re-Recording is Available Now

Global pop icon HIKARU UTADA today releases a special re-recording of “Simple and Clean” featuring newly recorded vocals by the Japanese songstress and co-production by frequent collaborator A.G. Cook.

First released in 2002 as the English theme song to Kingdom Hearts, the track has become synonymous with the legendary gaming franchise, transcending the world of video game music to become a global cultural phenomenon. Showcasing Utada’s unparalleled vocals with renewed vibrancy and featuring new production from the artist and producer A.G. Cook, today’s re-recording honors the imitable legacy and timeless power of “Simple and Clean” nearly 25 years since its release – LISTEN HERE.

Today’s track arrives alongside a special new announcement trailer from SQUARE ENIX®, the gaming company behind Kingdom Hearts, who today announced the beloved franchise’s debut on Steam® on June 13, 2024.
