Diving into Lies of P for the third time, now on the Switch 2 has been a delight! Re-fighting bosses, picking a new build, and re-experiencing the world that I fell in love with has all been incredibly fun. Throughout the game there will be multiple bosses that test your wits and skill when it comes to taking them down in the most effective, and efficient-to-you-way as possible.

With the Switch 2’s release of Lies of P being some people’s first experience of the game, some people are experience iconic bosses for the first time. Nope, I’m not jealous at all, that some of you get to experience certain bosses for the first time in all their glory. In this guide I’ll be going over the boss, King’s Flame Fuoco. Explaining the move sets and how to take down the boss in the most effective way.

Starting Tips

Before even starting this boss or discussing its move set here are a few tips on what to equip and bring along with you in the boss battle. This boss is a fire boss, which means that in order to survive this battle remembering to roll around when you overheat is crucial. When you overheat you need to roll around to quell the ailment. I would also highly recommend dying a few times to the boss, hear me out on this.

Understanding the bosses tells, and analyzing the boss room is crucial to your success.  Seeing not only how the boss attacks, but what you can use in the boss room to your advantage will help tremendously. The pillars in King’s Flame Fuoco’s boss room are a prime example of something to utilize to your advantage.

I would also bring throwing cells with you into the boss battle considering the fact that Fuoco is weak to electricity. In addition, I would also highly recommend bringing a scepter in the boss arena to get an idea of how Fuoco’s attacks land, and how far you need to be from him to avoid any damage.

Phase One

Since there are only two phases in this boss battle, Fuoco is a rather easy one to go through. You fought honestly more challenging bosses earlier in the game, so fighting this behemoth should be a cake walk. It also makes it easier that Fuocos tells are insanely transparent. Now if you’re fighting him on Butterflies Guidance, Fuoco turns into a orange cat, rather than a beast to be feared. If you’re fighting on Legendary Stalker, you’ll be here for a hot minute considering the fact that Fuoco on the hardest difficulty of this game can punch you into the next century.

Going into the boss room the key to success early on is to be incredibly aggressive. Stay on this boss consistently, and don’t let up and give him a chance to attack. When he does attack at first, you’ll notice he will do a huge slam down that can be rather spicy to your health.  After that slam down he will Instantly lift that arm up which causes damage in you’re in that line of attack. Going immediately to the back of him and dealing damage is ideal when he lifts that arm up. This is also an ideal time to get some damage in with some throwing cells.

The next major attack that Fuoco executes besides the little hits and fist smashes is the fist floor sweep. He will do two variants of this attack, one where he will swing around once, and another where he swings around three times, plus a burst of the flamethrower. After that he will slam then immediately go into charging attack which, fun fact, you can cancel out if you’re quick enough. if not, then you’re going to need to dodge to either side to avoid it. He will also intermittently do a flame thrower attack where a fire will spill everywhere from his cannon.

Phase Two

Something to be incredibly mindful of is overheating during the boss battle. I know I stated it before, but phase two is where you’ll really need to keep an eye on overheating. When entering into the second phase you’ll know be the massive flood of fire that is inescapable. Rolling around several times will cancel out the overheat effect. if you feel like you need to heal quick or get a throwing item ready, hide behind one of the pillars it should give you enough time!

When Fuoco turns red again is when you need to step back, cancel out his attack if you’re fast enough, or let your scepter take some of the damage.  Since this is Fuocos last phase he saved his best moves for last.  While utilizing all the attacks from the first phase, he will also throw some brand-new ones at you. There’s this nifty attack called oil spill where there will be puddles of oil that Fuoco shoots out, and if you’re close enough Fuoco can ignite those setting the oil and you on fire. So be careful.

Stay aggressive, be smart with your moves, and you’ll beat the boss in no time. Also remember to try new approaches or weapons if one isn’t working out. Remember, practice makes better, not perfect. Perfection isn’t a thing to strive for when going into any souls-like. The aim is to be better and have fun with the process! If you beat the boss congrats, you did it!!
