Rise Of The Ronin Outpaces Nioh In Early Sales, Koei Tecmo Reports

Koei Tecmo recently revealed that Rise of the Ronin, its latest PlayStation exclusive, is outselling its predecessor, the Nioh series. This announcement came as part of the company’s latest financial disclosure.

The game, which is only available on the PlayStation 5, launched in a competitive market just after other major titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Dragon’s Dogma II. Despite the tough competition, Rise of the Ronin has performed commendably in sales, although exact figures were not disclosed.

Critics have given the game mixed reviews, with a Metacritic score of 76. While praised for its engaging open-world adventure.

Additionally, the Nioh series had previously reached over 7 million sales globally as of October 2022. Rise of the Ronin, being a new intellectual property, has set high expectations with its initial success.

Koei Tecmo has acknowledged both the strengths and criticisms of the game. High user ratings and strong combat gameplay are among the positive feedback, while the visuals and some elements of the open-world experience have faced criticism.

Overall, the company remains optimistic about the game’s future potential and aims to build on its early achievements. The game is part of a broader strategy by Koei Tecmo to innovate and expand its offerings in the gaming market.
