Soon you’ll be able to play Xbox games on Samsung Smart TVs without an Xbox.
Ahead of the Summer Game Fest, Xbox has announced that it, along with Samsung, will be bringing Xbox gaming to select TVs without the need for a console. This will be made possible with the Xbox app, not to be confused with the PC app with the same name. This app will be made available on June 30th, 2022. This app will allow gamers to stream Xbox titles, similar to how Xbox’s cloud gaming service works. T
It’s been long rumored that Xbox was working on a way for gamers to play Xbox titles without the need for an Xbox, and today is the start of that evolution. With the reveal of the Xbox App, select 2022 editions of Samsung’s Smart TVs will now be able to play games. This is both a great way to bring Xbox titles to those new to gaming and without them needing to fork out any extra money.

With the same ease that our customers watch live sports and stream movies on Samsung Neo QLEDs and QLEDs, they can now play their favorite games.”

The Xbox app will come to 2022 Samsung Smart TVs, including Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, QLEDs, and 2022 Smart Monitor Series, on June 30th, 2022. Xbox has also mentioned that while this is currently exclusive to Samsung, they are working with other TV manufacturers to bring the Xbox app to their Smart TVs as well.
Then there’s the still ongoing rumor that Xbox is also working on a Fire TV-like stick that would also enable gamers to play (stream) Xbox games with an Xbox console. While the Xbox app seems like a sure-fire hit, there are still those who either don’t have a Smart TV or would instead use a monitor. It would make sense for Xbox to continue developing this streaming stick, is if they are working on one.
