Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Looks Freaking Bonkers and I Love It

By Keith MitchellJune 8, 2022
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Netflix

Back in 2020, Keanu Reeves revealed that a Cyberpunk-theme anime called ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners‘ was in the works. Studio Trigger, the gang that worked on anime such as ‘Kill la Kill’ and ‘BNA: Brand New Animal‘, would be handling the production, directed by Hiroyuki Umaishi, and it would premiere on Netflix. Well, that was nearly two years ago, and today we finally got a look at the show thanks to two teaser trailers that were shown during Netflix’s Geeked Week 2022.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a standalone story about a street kid who is trying to survive a futuristic city that is obsessed with technological body modification. Of course, it is Cyberpunk, after all. The anime will span 10 episodes, but we don’t know how long each episode will be.

The animation looks bonkers, but name me one anime from Studio Trigger that hasn’t. Here’s hoping that the story is as good. And yes, that woman did have three tits; you can stop checking. Haven’t you seen the original ‘Total Recall‘?

Sadly, we’re still going to have to wait to see the show as it won’t be released until September 2022.
